  • Check my PC: after opening How to fix, the Back button now returns to your results, so there is no need to run the check again.
  • Clearer messages when a video tool can't start ffmpeg or ffprobe, saying what is missing and how to update or repair the app.

  • New: Help me fix. Type what's wrong in the search box - for example "my computer is slow", "wifi keeps dropping" or an update error code - and the problems that match appear first, each with the tools that fix it, in order, and why. A Help me fix button and the home screen list 96 common problems in 15 areas, and Check my PC runs read-only checks (disk space, start-up programs, memory, drive health, crashes, antivirus, Windows Update, Secure Boot, BitLocker, privacy settings and app updates) and shows how to fix anything it finds.
  • New Privacy & Telemetry Control tool (Security & Privacy): makes Windows less nosy. 37 privacy settings explained in plain English, with Recommended, Strict and Custom presets, a preview of every change, a System Restore point first, and one-click Undo my changes or Windows defaults.
  • The Standard edition now shows how many tools you can use, for example "96 of 110 Tools", and the About window shows how many more come with the Pro edition.
  • New Windows Repair Wizard tool (System Information & Optimization): runs Windows' own repair tools - DISM, SFC and CHKDSK - in Microsoft's recommended order and explains every result in plain English. Start with a read-only quick check; if it finds damage, the full repair fixes it with a restore point first, and disk errors can be repaired at the next restart. Every run's logs are saved with a plain-English summary, including the files SFC repaired.
  • New App Installer & Updater tool (System Information & Optimization): keep your apps up to date and set up PCs fast with Windows Package Manager (winget). See which apps have newer versions and update the ones you tick, install apps in bulk from a catalogue of popular apps with quick picks (Home essentials, Office PC, Tech toolkit, Developer), and save this PC's app list to install the same apps on a new PC. Every install shows a preview first, can create a restore point, can be stopped, and is recorded in the Change Journal, where a new install can be undone. If winget is missing, the tool explains it and opens App Installer in the Microsoft Store.
  • New BitLocker & Recovery Key Manager tool (Security & Privacy): make sure you can never be locked out of your own PC. It shows BitLocker status and key protectors for every drive, warns about drives with no recovery key or no recorded backup, and saves the recovery keys to a file in one click (warning you if you're saving a drive's key onto that same drive). Keys stay hidden until you choose to show them and are never included in reports. It also shows Windows and Office activation, including Microsoft 365 apps licensed by signing in. The Windows sign-in and idle-close options in Options > Security now cover it too.
  • New Windows Update Doctor tool (System Information & Optimization): find out in one click why Windows won't update. It checks the update services, waiting restarts, disk space and paused updates, reads Windows' update history, event log, servicing log (CBS.log) and setup logs, and explains every error code it finds (such as 0x800f0922 or 0xc1900104) in plain English with the usual fix. You can also look up any code yourself. When nothing else works, it resets the Windows Update components safely: it shows exactly what will change first, can create a restore point, keeps the old update caches instead of deleting them, and records the reset in the Change Journal. Reports can be copied or exported to TXT or CSV.
  • New Secure Boot & Boot Health Check tool (Security & Privacy): see at a glance whether your PC is ready for Microsoft's new 2023 Secure Boot certificates, with a green, amber or red answer. It checks UEFI or BIOS start-up, the disk layout, whether Secure Boot is on, the certificates in your firmware, the boot manager, free space on the EFI system partition, Windows' update history and servicing log, dual-boot systems and BitLocker, previews what could be cleared from a full EFI partition (without deleting anything), then lists what to do next in the supported order. It only reads your PC's settings and never changes anything. Reports can be copied or exported to TXT or CSV.
  • You can now choose how often FW Admin Tech Tools Pro checks for updates: weekly, fortnightly, monthly or never (Options > Updates).
  • When a new version is available, the update message now tells you how to get it: use the download link in your original Lemon Squeezy purchase email. The Microsoft Store edition still updates itself.
  • New Share with Friends window (in the About group): share the app in one click by email, Gmail, Outlook.com, WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Messenger, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Tumblr or LINE, use Windows Share to send it to Nearby Sharing, Outlook, Teams and other apps on your PC, copy the link, or scan a QR code to share from your phone.
  • The RAM Optimiser floating RAM monitor can now be placed anywhere on any monitor and opens in the same place next time. Right-click it to open RAM Optimiser, trim RAM, reset its position or hide it, or use the new Reset position link next to its tick box.

Version 1.2.98.0

  • Video Editor titles and text now use the Segoe UI font, in the preview and in exported videos.
  • Web Page Copy Generator's Auto-repeat now saves each capture in its own dated folder, so you can compare captures with each other.
  • Convert Word Documents to PDF and Convert Word Documents to Another Format now show progress as they work, keep your subfolders in the save folder, and list any file that could not be converted.
  • Outlook Folder Replicator now has its own page, keeps each copied folder's type (calendar, contacts, tasks or notes) and can export its log to a text file.
  • The “Add FW tool” menu in Auto Run is now grouped by category and uses the same tool names as the main window.
  • New Change Journal: see everything the tools have changed on your PC, including renamed, moved and deleted files, rewritten files and changed Windows settings. You can undo a whole action or just the changes you pick, even after closing the app or restarting, and anything you've changed again since is left alone unless you say so.
  • System Performance Optimiser now shows a preview before it changes a Windows setting: each setting with its current value, its new value and whether it can be undone. Nothing changes until you click Make these changes, settings that are already set are skipped, and cleaning buttons show how many files and how much space are involved first.
  • FW Tech Tools is now in the File Explorer right-click menu. Right-click a PDF to open it in PDF Easy, pictures to edit or convert them, videos, music and HEIC photos to convert them, or a folder to analyse its disk space, find, rename, organise or zip files and more. Only the actions that fit what you clicked are shown, and you can switch the menu off in Options.
  • New Changes & undo page in Options: turn the previews and the Change Journal on or off, and choose how long journal entries are kept.
  • The direct-download version can now be opened up to 5 times, over up to 14 days, without an internet connection (a trial never goes past its end date). After that, it asks you to connect once so your licence can be verified.
  • While you work, the direct-download version checks your licence quietly a few minutes after opening and then once a day. If you're offline, it simply tries again later and never closes the app.

Version 1.2.97.0

  • Improved PDF Easy's Edit text and Find & replace. A paragraph that is partly under a saved blur, whiteout or other mark is now left alone, so the covered words can never be moved out from under it and shown again.
  • Added a notice in PDF Easy when you place a blur or whiteout over text. It explains that covering words only hides them from view, that they stay in the file, and that Redact removes them permanently.
  • Improved PDF Easy's Edit text. When a change makes a line longer, it now checks that the line won't run into anything beside it, such as a redaction box, and offers to make the text slightly smaller so it fits.
  • Improved the Pen in PDF Easy, the Screenshot Editor and the Image Editor so it feels like real handwriting. Strokes follow a smooth curve, small hand wobble is steadied, and the line is fuller when you write slowly and finer on quick strokes, or follows your pen's pressure on a tablet, with a soft start and lift-off.
  • Improved the Pen for writing whole words. Strokes are no longer boxed and selected one by one as you write, and only the area around the pen is redrawn, so writing stays quick even on busy pages.
  • Added Extract text to PDF Easy's Pages panel. Save the text of every page or just the selected ones as a TXT or CSV file, or copy it, as whole paragraphs in reading order, with two-column pages read one column at a time, table rows kept on one line and list bullets and numbers kept. Words hidden under a saved blur or whiteout come out as [covered], so extracting never reveals them.
  • Added Remove hidden text to PDF Easy. Blurs, whiteouts and other marks saved by earlier versions only covered the words, which stayed in the file; Health & Privacy now finds them and removes them (the page looks exactly the same), and PDF Easy offers to do it when you save such a file.

Version 1.2.96.0

  • Improved the list of updates and bug fixes on the home screen. Each change is now its own bulleted entry with space between them, under clear section and version headings, so it's easy to see where one ends and the next begins.
  • Added Edit text to PDF Easy. Click any paragraph and type, as you would in a word processor: your words keep the same font, size and colour, the paragraph reflows inside its own width, and the original words are removed from the file rather than covered over.
  • Added safeguards to PDF Easy's Edit text. It tells you when a font isn't installed and lets you choose what to use, warns about characters the font doesn't have, and never lets edited text overlap anything else on the page; if there isn't room, it can make that text slightly smaller so it fits.
  • Improved PDF Easy's Find & replace. The old words are now removed from the file and each replacement is written in the same font, size and colour, with the paragraph reflowed, and you're told beforehand exactly what will and won't be changed.
  • Improved the speed of the Image Editor. It opens in about a third of the time, and drawing, scrolling, zooming and switching tools on large photos no longer lag.
  • Improved the Image Editor's layout. Drag the dividers beside the tool list and the side panel to make them the size you like (they are remembered next time, and Show > Reset panel sizes puts them back), and tabs, buttons and labels resize so their text is never cut off.
  • Improved tool windows that have tabs, so they open faster.
  • Improved the Screenshot Recorder editor. Closing a screenshot you only looked at copies it to the clipboard without saving the file again, while an edited screenshot is still saved and copied when you close it.
  • Improved Screenshot Recorder's Delayed capture. The countdown starts straight away and you choose what to capture when it ends, on a frozen picture of the screen, so menus and tooltips you open during the countdown are in the shot. Right-click the button to choose the area first instead.
  • Improved PDF Easy with OneDrive, Dropbox and other synced folders. PDFs with very long paths and file names open and save reliably, a save never leaves a half-written file, and it waits briefly if the sync app has the file locked.
  • Improved the speed of the PDF Easy editor: scrolling is smooth, pages appear instantly and sharpen a moment later, and drawing, dragging and resizing marks is many times quicker.
  • Improved PDF Easy so switching between tools, and between Annotate, Edit, Fill & Sign and Redact, is near-instant.
  • Improved PDF Easy so Compare opens inside the PDF Easy window, with its summary in a side panel, instead of a separate window.

  • Fixed Screenshot Recorder captures and recordings looking zoomed in (only part of the screen, enlarged) on screens set to 125 %, 150 % or other display scaling. Screenshots, window and scrolling captures, the area picker, recordings and the click and keystroke overlay now all use the real screen size on every monitor.
  • Fixed the Text size option in Options > Accessibility appearing to do nothing. It only made newly opened windows bigger, so maximised windows, windows that remember their size and windows already open never changed.
  • Fixed long tooltips, such as the one on the Help me fix button, wrapping onto two lines and sitting tight against their border. Tips now stay on one line where they fit and have more room around the text.
  • Fixed the Help me fix pages, Check my PC results and search results starting right against the left edge of the window. They now have a margin.
  • Fixed the Back button on a Check my PC "How to fix" page going to the Help me fix start page, which meant running the check again. It now returns to your results.
  • Fixed Screenshot Recorder and Video Editor saying ffmpeg or ffprobe could not be found after the app was updated.
  • Fixed the Video Editor saying it couldn't read a video when the problem was a missing ffprobe. It now says which one it is.
  • Fixed the Microsoft Store download of FW Admin Tech Tools Pro including the whole app twice. The download is now much smaller.

  • Fixed App Installer & Updater showing a busy cursor over the whole window while it checks for updates, which made it look frozen. The window stays fully usable, and can be moved, while the check runs.
  • Fixed every tool re-arranging its whole window each time it was moved, which could make dragging a busy tool feel stuck.
  • Fixed the search box in the main window lagging while you type. Results now appear as soon as you pause, and the app no longer slows down after many searches.

  • Fixed PDF Easy redaction leaving behind the width of each removed letter inside the file, which a determined person could use to help guess a short redacted word such as a name. Only the overall gap is kept now, which is no more than the box itself shows.
  • Fixed PDF Easy's Pixelate and Blur redaction being too light on small boxes, where the shapes of words could still be made out. Both are now strong enough that nothing can be read, even over a single line of text, and the preview matches the result.
  • Fixed the Pixelate and Blur marks in the Screenshot Editor and Image Editor letting the original show through along their edges, and being too light over text on high-resolution screenshots or at a low strength. Over text they now always work out a strength from the size of the text, so nothing can be read, and the strength setting can only make them stronger.
  • Fixed the Video Editor's blur and pixelate areas being too light at a low strength, so faces and number plates could still be recognised. Pixelate also now gives an even mosaic instead of random black and white blocks.
